Hi there! My name is Tami Loyd and I am a bookkeeper by day…cake decorator extraordinaire by night. Well…maybe evenings and weekends. The only thing you do “by night” in your your 40’s is sleep. I recently relocated from California to Colorado and married my FAB husband, Bryan.
I started decorating cakes about 8 years ago, which is amazing to think about. I didn’t even realize it had been that long. I am mostly self taught, having only taken one Wilton class at Michael’s when I first started out because I had NO clue where to begin. After that I decided that I could figure it out on my own. Haha. I basically went about it backwards. I had ideas or got orders and then figured out how to pull it off after the fact. If ever I was asked “can you do this”, I would say yes and then Google like a crazy person.
Thats how I discovered tutorials…ahhhh, cake tutorials. Glorious, beautiful, life-saving cake tutorials. One can get lost on YouTube for hours on end. For a few years I’ve been posting my cakes on my blog so that any potential customers can check out my work…but lately I’ve been thinking that I can offer so much more. That is when I decided to start doing tutorials of my own. I would love the opportunity to be a beacon of hope for a beginner that is up at midnight, having a mild psychotic episode because something just…isn’t…working. We’ve all been there! So, I’m going to be using this blog to post advice, words of wisdom, tutorials, and of course… pictures of my cakes. If you need some direction in an area that I haven’t posted about yet, send me a message and I will be glad to help. I take requests! (Wink)
